Campaign for Community Wellness - Housing

The purpose of the MHSA Housing Program is to provide funding for capital costs and operating subsidies develop permanent supportive housing for individuals with mental illness and their families. This means housing with no limit on length of stay and that is linked to on-site or off-site services. Services must help the tenant retain the housing, support recovery and resiliency, and maximize the ability to live and work in the community. The target population for this program includes low-income adults, older adults, and transition-aged youth with serious mental illness, children with severe emotional disorders and their families, and those who are homeless or at risk for homelessness.

Housing Element Workshops Planned

Hello,

Placer County is in the process of updating the Housing Element of
the County General Plan. The Housing Element sets out the goals,
policies and implementation programs for the planning and
development of housing throughout the county. Once adopted, the
revised Housing Element will be in effect until 2013.

To give the public and other interested parties an opportunity to
offer input and review the draft background report, there will be
two public workshops to assess the housing needs in the
unincorporated areas of the county. The county will gather input
from these workshops and incorporate it into the final version of
the Housing Element.

The draft Background Report for the Housing Element will be
available on the County’s website either later this week or early
next week.  A separate email will be sent notifying you when the
document is uploaded.

Because public input on housing issues and strategies is critical
to the update, there will be a workshop on the North Shore of Lake
Tahoe and in Auburn.  Planning staff will explain the process for
the update, discuss the completed housing needs assessment and
housing constraint analysis, and accept public comment. Those two
workshops will be at:

April 8, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the North Tahoe Conference
Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, Kings Beach, and

April 10, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Community Development
Resource Center, 3091 County Center Drive, DeWitt Center, Auburn.
